Coke Shareholders Meet at World of Coca-Cola
By Staff Writer

For the first time, Coca-Cola’s shareowners meeting was held at the World of Coca-Cola in downtown Atlanta on April 27th. Approximately 2,000 guests registered for a shareowner appreciation event at the attraction after Wednesday’s meeting.

“This beautiful piece of paper you own is worth over 110 percent more to you today than it was 10 years ago,” Coca-Cola Chairman and CEO Muhtar Kent told a crowd of nearly 500 shareowners today, holding up a KO stock certificate. “And I am quite sure that 10 years from now, the leadership of The Coca-Cola Company will be saying the same thing at this very same meeting.”

The company’s Annual Meeting of Shareowners at the World of Coca-Cola in downtown’s Pemberton Place – located just a few blocks from where the first-ever Coca-Cola was poured nearly 130 years ago – provided both a look back at 2015 and a look ahead at where the business is headed in the years to come. In his opening remarks, Kent stressed the company’s focus on creating long-term value while improving the lives of communities, customers, consumers, employees and partners.

“It’s about making sure we are not only a better and more valuable company today than we were 10 years ago,” he said. “More importantly, it’s about doing everything possible today to create greater value for you and all of our stakeholders a decade from now… and even two, three and four decades from now.

“We don’t manage this business only for the next quarter. We manage it also for the next quarter of a century.”
