Governor Brian Kemp, First Lady Marty Kemp, Commissioner Pat Wilson, and Chief of Protocol Nico Wijnberg were honored to welcome Ambassador Birgitta Tazelaar, Ambassador of the Netherlands to the United States, to Georgia this week.
During the visit, Ambassador Tazelaar and Consul General Jacob (Jaap) Veerman discussed business, cultural, and diplomatic ties between the State of Georgia and the Netherlands. In 2023 alone, Georgia exports to the Netherlands jumped to nearly $2 billion, making it the sixth largest export market for Georgia. Nearly 300 Dutch facilities operating in the state employ over 10,000 Georgians.
Georgia and the Netherlands are well-connected by air and sea: the airports of Atlanta and Amsterdam as well the ports of Savannah and Rotterdam serve as excellent logistics gateways into their respective regions.
The Dutch consulate opened in Atlanta in early 2019.
