Since 2007, Garst has provided polling services for InsiderAdvantage. He has also worked with Mitchell Research & Communications of Lansing, Michigan, since 2009. Through these relationships, Garst has developed significant experience designing surveys, analyzing voter attitudes and measuring political trends at the local, state and national levels.
During his tenure with InsiderAdvantage, that polling operation was ranked No. 1 in the multistate scorecard from Real Clear Politics in 2020 and was ranked No. 2 for all polling firms in 2024 by the Activote ranking scorecard.
“For years John's company has played a major role in numerous aspects of our polling operations. And we are glad to say that our relationship is not changing. But we are also pleased to know John will be assisting our good friends and close colleagues at Rasmussen Reports,” said Matt Towery, chairman of InsiderAdvantage.
“John brings extensive practical experience and a thorough understanding of both polling methodology and the political environment,” Rasmussen Reports President Ted Carroll said in announcing the appointment. “His record of accurately measuring public opinion and translating survey data into meaningful analysis will strengthen our polling operation as we continue providing timely and reliable information to the American public.”
Garst said he looks forward to contributing to Rasmussen Reports’ nationally recognized polling program.
“I am honored to join the Rasmussen Reports team,” Garst said. “Rasmussen Reports has a long history of measuring the opinions and concerns of American voters. I look forward to contributing my experience and helping produce accurate, relevant and insightful research during a consequential period in American politics.”
About Rasmussen Reports
Rasmussen Reports is an internationally recognized public-opinion polling and commentary organization providing timely and accurate independent survey research on political, economic and social issues. Its polling and analysis are regularly followed by voters, elected officials, campaigns, journalists and political professionals throughout the United States. Rasmussen Reports was the first to identify and publish data about the apparently serious widespread side effects from the 2020 COVID-19 vaccine in the American public and it is the only national American media outlet that tracks and reports frequently on evidence of election fraud in America. Both of these politically charged topics have been covered by Rasmussen Reports as a service to American voters.
